Jarvis Bay (incorporated as a summer village on the eastern shore of Sylvan Lake in 1986) is named for William M. ‘Dick’ Jarvis, a former North-West Mounted Policeman, lumber yard owner, WWI vet, Imperial Oil agent, and ranch hand. His family was one of the first to camp in the area.
